ChAImp champions community-level nonprofits — bringing enterprise-grade AI and digital transformation to organizations doing meaningful work, often without the resources their mission deserves. Every conversation starts the same way — tell us about your mission.
ChAImp — said "Champ." The AI's in how we work, not the headline.
We believe AI should amplify human connection — never replace it.
We don't just implement technology. We transfer capability — building solutions your team can sustain, adapt and build upon. Sometimes that's software we've already built and you can use today. Sometimes it's an honest look at the tools you already own, the benefits you're entitled to, or training your team so they can do it themselves. Custom AI is one of the things we do — not the only one.
CartonCrew · CartonCrewStudio · RescueCentral · SchoolPTA · KnowledgeRetention
Ready-made software you can use today — a nonprofit CRM and a version of it that speaks gallery, an all-in-one animal-rescue system, a mobile-first PTA/PTO platform, and a way to keep institutional knowledge when people move on. Each co-developed with a real partner, each using AI to enhance admin so your team has more time on mission. See our offerings →
Smarter workflows, responsibly built
Purpose-built AI tools tailored to your nonprofit's operations — paired with the governance, data-protection, and oversight that mission-driven organizations need. Smarter workflows that protect your donors, clients, and reputation while giving your team back hours. Bring us the problem →
Like Google — but for your own organization's data
Help your team find the right information at the right time. We build systems that surface answers from your own data — securely, responsibly, and without the jargon. We've built a whole product around it. Meet KnowledgeRetention →
Swap spreadsheets and legacy tools for something that actually works
Modernizing legacy processes with practical, affordable tools your team can maintain — built around your specific challenge, not a one-size-fits-all platform. Less manual work, fewer broken spreadsheets, more time on mission. Start with a review →
Secure, modern technology that grows with you
Cloud-first architecture that is secure, scalable, and cost-efficient. Built to grow with you — not against you. Usually it starts with Microsoft 365 set up properly, once. See how we do it →
Reviews · Process · Training · Donated software · Microsoft 365
Sometimes the answer isn't new software. We review what you already run, fix the workflows before automating them, train your team on AI and its limits, claim the donated-software programs your 501(c)(3) status entitles you to — TechSoup, Microsoft, Google and others — and deploy Microsoft 365 properly. If you don't need to build anything, we'll say so. See what we offer →
We work with community-level nonprofits across the United States who are ready to embrace technology responsibly — organizations with big missions, lean teams, and the determination to make every resource count.
"More Mission.
Less Admin."
The ChAImp Promise
Our engagements are active and ongoing. Full case studies — including outcomes, tools used, and lessons learned — are being documented and will be published here soon. Check back regularly.
Website Modernization · Digital Transformation
We're partnering with a volunteer-run dog rescue to modernize their web presence and bring AI-assisted process optimization to a small team carrying a big load. They're the founding partner for RescueCentral — our unified platform for animal rescues, so many of them entirely volunteer-led — bringing their website, adoptions, auctions, and day-to-day operations together in one place.

AI Integration · Process Automation
A 501(c)(3) supporting children in foster care — helping them build life skills through academic and technical education, so every child is seen for their unique value. Like many lean nonprofits, their team carries a heavy load of manual, repetitive process work that pulls time away from the mission. We're partnering with them to streamline and optimize those workflows — moving from manual effort to an AI-assisted solution that gives their people back hours for the work that actually matters. That solution is CartonCrew — our all-in-one nonprofit management platform — and they're its founding partner.

Your Challenge · Your Mission
We're actively looking for our next nonprofit to partner with. If your nonprofit is wrestling with technology, administration, or AI adoption — let's talk. No jargon. No invoice. Just mission.
Start the Conversation →We don't hand you something complicated and walk away. We build with your team, train alongside them, and leave you more capable than when we arrived. Most engagements require less than two hours of your team's time per week.
Built with enterprise-grade standards. Solutions that work when you need them most.
Responsible AI and data practices that protect your organization, your data, and your constituents.
Built to last — and to outlast us. Your data is always yours, exportable anytime in standard formats, on open foundations any developer can pick up. If we ever part ways, you keep a working system and all your data — never a reason to start over.
The name is ChAImp, pronounced "Champ" — the "AI" is baked into how we work for nonprofits: quietly, in service of the mission, not as the marketing.
After 25+ years at Microsoft — across Engineering, Product, and Support — James Whelan founded ChAImp to do something that hits different.
British by birth and American by choice, James spent 25 years solving problems inside Microsoft — for enterprise customers and the teams who served them. He now brings that same rigor, reliability, and pragmatism to community-level nonprofits — organizations that know technology could transform their impact, but need a trusted partner to get them there.
ChAImp is his give-back — twenty-five years of enterprise technology, turned toward the organizations doing the work that matters most. He builds with whatever serves the mission best, because the outcome always matters more than the stack. And he brings something tech too often forgets — warmth and a sense of humor. To James, how he works with people matters as much as what he delivers for them.
The name ChAImp comes from somewhere personal — a reminder that championing others is the most important thing any of us can do.
If your nonprofit needs a champion, the door stays open — always.
ChAImp is shaped by a board that shares the mission — bringing frontline nonprofit experience, governance, and technical depth to everything we build.

If you lead or support a nonprofit and want to explore what modern technology could do for your organization — let's talk. No jargon. No obligation. Just an honest conversation.
The only thing we ask to begin is that you tell us about your mission.
No unexpected costs. No complicated onboarding. We handle the complexity so you don't have to.
Video calls work beautifully — but if you're in the Pacific Northwest, we'd love to meet in person. The best partnerships start with a real conversation.
